An individual who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual offences against two boys aged nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his family member had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the authorities once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
